Scholarship Thank You Letter

Scholarships can be found anywhere, with any major University, College, or institution. Often funded by global and regional organizations that support talents to study in any country. Due to its nature, distance learning scholarships nowadays, during the global pandemic, are a great alternative if you pursue an international study or career, wherever you may be.

How do you write a thank you letter for a University or College scholarship?

When you are preparing an official handwritten or typed thank you for a letter, it's good to emphasize the advantage this scholarship will give you, and you can show gratitude. Be sure that the letter is clean, neat, and legible. The use of a thank you card, personal stationery, or plain sheet alternatively is also acceptable. You may address this message of thanks to the Donor Organization or Financial Aid Office and you can follow this format:

First paragraph: State the purpose of your letter.

• I am writing to express my sincere gratitude to you for making the {{Name of Scholarship}} possible.
• I was thrilled to learn of my selection for this honor and I am deeply appreciative of your support.
• I am honored to be the recipient of the {{Scholarship Name}} of {{Scholarship Amount}}.
  
• Your generous contribution has allowed me to pursue my {{Undergraduate/Master’s/Ph.D. degree}} at {{University / College / Institution}}.

Second paragraph: Share a little about yourself (your goals, background) and indicate why the scholarship is important.

• I was both surprised and honored to receive the scholarship from your organization. I am aware of some of the things you do for our community, particularly in support of education.
• I am currently enrolled in the {{Degree or Program}} with a focus on {{Specialization}}. I consistently maintain a Grade Point Average (GPA) of {{GPA}} and actively participate in {{Extracurricular Activity}} in my spare time. I plan on graduating in {{Month}} of {{Year}}, at which time I will pursue a career in the {{Industry}} as a {{Job Title}}. I will use the knowledge, skills, and expertise I gain during my time at {{University / College / Institution}} to contribute to the {{Industry}} community after graduation. 
  
• The {{Name of Scholarship}} has paid for my {{Type of Expense}} expense, allowing me to focus on my academic pursuits. Without your donation, I wouldn’t be able to achieve the grades necessary to fulfill my professional ambition of becoming a {{Job Title}}. Thank you for your continued support and investment in my future.  

Third paragraph: Close by thanking the person again and make a commitment to do well with the “donor’s investment.”

• I appreciate your confidence in me and willingness to contribute to my future education. 
• I am transferring from College and look forward to completing my Bachelor’s Degree at University. 
• At the current time, I plan on majoring in Business Administration and Interior Design in hopes of one day opening my own design business. 
• Again, thank you for investing in my future.
• Thank you for your continued support and investment in my future.
