A Product Requirements Document (PRD) is a document that defines a product requirements. It a written to educate someone about the details of a product.

What is include in a Product Requirements Document?

A Product Requirements Document (PRD) template states the product purpose, functional requirements, features, product vision, product scope, product functionality, validation rules etc. It help businesses to especially the technical department to build a product, or launch a product or market a product. Below are some tips when writing a PRD:

  • Keep the PRD short- It do not need to be lengthy and contains unnecessary details. 
  • Must be collaborative- Individuals with different background skills must come together and pool their resources as so to obtain all necessary information of the product.
  • All important information must be stated- The product description, goal, target audience, scope of work, Glossary, list of features, Technical/ Non technical requirements, risk and other important information must be on the PRD.
