Every year, on the first of May, people all over the world celebrate 'International Workers' Day' (or Labour day, but not USA Labor Day!), to honor the hard work done by workers everywhere across the globe. This important, often public holiday, is greatly celebrated, and provides a lot of options to organize nice private and commercial events.

How to make a Labour Day social post?

Labour Day, often referred to as 'May Day', is a national holiday in over 160 countries worldwide and traditionally celebrated on May 1, to honor and recognize the hard work effort from the labor movement and the works and contributions to the global development and achievements. May 1, 1886 was the day that the American Federation of Labour called for a general strike, and they demanded an 8-hour work day. By the year 1889, it received the title International Workers Day, on May 1.

When will Labour Day take place?

Labour day takes place on first Monday of September, which will be on the following days:

  • Labour Day 2023: May 1, 2023 (Monday)
  • Labour Day 2024: May 1, 2024 (Wednesday)
  • Labour Day 2025: May 1, 2025 (Thursday)
  • Labour Day 2026: May 1, 2026 (Friday)
  • Labour Day 2027: May 1, 2027 (Saturday)
  • Labour Day 2028: May 1, 2028 (Monday)
  • Labour Day 2029: May 1, 2029 (Tuesday)
  • Labour Day 2030: May 1, 2030 (Wednesday)
  • Labour Day 2031: May 1, 2031 (Thursday)
  • Labour Day 2032: May 1, 2032 (Saturday)

International Workers Day (Labour Day) in other countries:

Although 'International Workers' Day' and 'May Day' is celebrated in 160 countries around the world on May 1, there is also a famous celebration of 'Labor day' in USA, which is a federal holiday in the United States and traditionally celebrated on the first Monday in September to honor and recognize the American labor movement and contributions since the late 19th century.

  • Croatian: Praznik rada
  • Czech: Svátek práce

  • Slovenian: praznik dela
  • Spanish: Día del Trabajo

Since this is a day people pay tribute to the contributions and achievements of American workers, it's a good opportunity to put extra attention on it event via social media, posters, presentations, etc. It's common that people celebrate a long (3-day) weekend if if it falls in a weekend. It's called 'Labour Day Weekend'.  Most Americans enjoy picnics, sport events, parades, grills in their backyards, at beaches, or in parks, you might want to organize something special for the neighborhood offline, or do a commercial online event. Between all the partake in parades or marches and enjoy the fireworks that are often launched at dusk.
