There are numerous detailed entries in a log book, including the number of hours spent on and off duty, as well as how many hours were spent driving and taking breaks. Logs must include information about duty hours, driving hours, and sleeping hours.

How do you fill out a logbook for a truck driver?

For the logbook, you should also include the following information:
  • Date as of today.
  • The name of the driver.
  • The number of jobs for the driver.
  • A tractor's number.
  • The number of the shipment.
  • The number of hours from the last seven days.
How long should a truck driver keep his logbooks?

Each driver's daily log must clearly show how many hours they have driven, been on duty, and rested during the day. Furthermore, the log must include the date and the number of miles you drove that day. Identify your carrier and the address of its main office.

Here is a sample log book template that you can download for free. Make a few changes to the Microsoft Word document. You can share this logbook format with your colleagues if it's useful in your company.
