1. Place your document topic, research topic, or thesis topic at the very beginning.
2. List the evidence from the previous research or literature that supports your thesis or research. Also, mention the references. Arrange all the evidence chronologically and label them in roman numerals.
3. Mention all the supporting literature, arguments for each of your research statements, also label them in capital letters. 
4. You can subdivide your topic depending upon the idea and theme, add subheadings until the outline is fully developed. 
5. Create a table of content after completing the outline and add it at the beginning of your document.
