The purpose of a follow-up letter is to know about your status after you are done with an interview. There are some types of follow up letter which is written based on the need for a letter. Some of them are written immediately after you have been interviewed to know your status. Another one is written if you do not hear back after the interview. How write a follow-up email after a phone interview?

While writing a follow-up letter, choose precise, clear, and easily understandable words so that your interviewer will get easily what you want to convey. Proofread the letter and make ensure your letter is error-free. Below are mentioned some necessary tips to write an impressive follow-up letter:

  1. Subject: You should choose a clear and concise subject that conveys the theme of your letter. The subject should also express a sense of appreciation to the interviewer.
  2. Start with a thank you: Writing your first paragraph with a thank you will show your humbleness and gratitude towards the recipient.
  3. Introduction: Write the introductory lines. These lines should contain a brief overview of the interview. Try to write down the positive aspects of the interview between you and your recipient.
  4. Letter body: Talk about your interests and career goals in the second paragraph of your letter. Try to be as brief and specifics as possible because most interviewers do not find time to read your lengthy letters.
  5. Sum up: In the final paragraph try to sum up all the details that you have mentioned above.  Tell the interviewer about what sets you apart from other candidates or what sets you stand top among all other candidates. Tell the interviewer in the last sentence that you want to hear from him as soon as possible.
  6. Signature: End you're follow-up letter with a handwritten signature followed by your full name.
