Documenting your information processing activities is an important characteristic for good data governance, and therefore this will help you to demonstrate your efforts in order to become compliant with the Data Privacy rules and regulation. The documentation of processing activities is a new legal requirement under several Data Privacy laws, such as the EU GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) or CCPA. 

What is the role of the Data Protection Officer?

A Data Protection Officer (DPO) is a broad function. A DPO is responsible for the implementation of the organizations policy.  The main tasks for this role include, but are not limited to: 

  • Continuously support to assess and map {{Organization}}´ Data Protection risks in {{LOCATION}}; in parallel, support management and other stakeholders in understanding and proactively manage Data Protection risks;
  • Monitor regulatory changes and inform relevant stakeholders;
  • Maintain a monitoring and control framework in the Data Protection field that is relevant to the regional and local business needs;
  • Implement relevant changes to the Data Protection framework (policies, directives and guidelines) and lead relevant local adaptations and implementation of the Data Protection framework;
  • Coordinate and manage the network of Data Protection Coordinators;
  • Provide management and other stakeholders with regulatory expertise in the Data Protection field;
  • Train and create awareness (online and face to face) in the Data Protection field;
  • Participate in relevant discussions;
  • Advise on Data Protection-related matters in Location.

DPO Skills/Competence Requirements:

  • Required qualifications, functional knowledge and experience: 
  • Academic degree from top tier university, Law degree or Data Protection-related education is a plus 
  • Experience in the field of Data Protection as a consultant and/or in-house 
  • Excellent report drafting skills
  • Analytical and synthetic skills
  • Project Management skills
  • Ability to make decisions and advise, develop solutions within relevant area
  • Business acumen. 
  • Native English speaker is preferred
  • Good communication skills (verbal and in writing)
  • High level of integrity and strong personal character
  • Strong drive, engagement, proactive and passionate about responsible business conduct.
  • Ability to challenge relevant stakeholders when required
  • Able to plan and organise his/her work within the framework and time set by relevant stakeholders
  • Highly focus on timely delivery precision and professional efficiency
  • Proven interest in and ability to find areas of improvements and drive change within {{COMPLIANCE ((NAME)) OFFICE}} area
  • Discretion and confidentiality
  • Proven team player with a customer focus
  • Solution oriented and service minded
  • Ability to develop efficient internal networks
