This letter is often asked by universities as well, in which college authorities provide a character letter for the respective student. This letter depicts the nature and behavior of the reference person. Here you will find some information along with character letter content. These letters have the potential to influence the decision if the person will be hired for the position. A good character letter can be incredibly helpful to a persons' case. Writing such a letter can be a challenge, particularly for those who are inexperienced with writing down relevant personal character traits.  Read on to learn more about how to write a top-notch letter of support.

How do you write a Character reference letter?

The character reference for a job position is to provide relevant information to a hiring manager or management team of potential new employer. It's also useful, if you need one for a friend, or co-worker with a written statement on the Defendant’s moral or mental qualities. In case of the latter, such a letter is commonly provided in child custody and/or drunk driving (DUI) occurrences but may be used in any situation needed where the court should hear about the personality and reputation of the Defendant in order to have the case drawn in their favor.

The character witness letter should be a simple 1-page document stating your experience with the recommended individual as well as why you feel the need to provide this reference. Depending on who you are and how the court views you in consideration of the case it may or may not sway the Judge into using the letter in their final assessment.

Introduction
The introduction should state who you are, how long you’ve known the individual, and why you feel the need to make this recommendation to the court.

Body Paragraph(s)
The body paragraph is your main argument why the recommended individual is a person of high moral character. For example, if you are the employer of the individual it should state how important they are to the workplace and to plead to the Judge to show leniency in this case. Or if it is a child custody lawsuit it should have a family member write how much the kids mean to the recommended individual.

Conclusion
The conclusion should summarize the purpose of the letter and he or she should write their contact information (phone and e-mail) in case the court should want to follow up on any of the information suggested in the letter.

What do you say in a character letter?

This letter must be drafted with keen care since it is a guarantor for the character of a person. There are mentioned some guidelines which must be followed while writing a character letter:

  1. After writing the necessary letter ingredients at the start, start the body by informing the reader about your relationship with the candidate.
  2. Explain how you met the candidate. Academic organizations mention the year and class in which the candidate took the admission.
  3. Also, mention the tenure, which means for how long you have been known to the person you are referring to.
  4. Explain the true nature of the candidate by providing relevant examples that compliment your words. Mention the positive qualities of the candidate.
  5. A character letter must be closed with a recommendation line, so it is compulsory for you to do it as well.

At the end of the letter, provide your contact information just if they want to contact you back for verification purposes.
