A character reference letter is written in clarify the character of a person. It is a short summary of a person written by someone known by them, which will normally include some information on their strengths and weaknesses, attitude, honesty, integrity, trustworthiness, dependability, etc.

How do you write a Character Reference letter?

You should only write a reference for someone who you are well acquainted with. The letter must be drafted with keen care since it is a guarantor for the character of a person. There are mentioned some guidelines which must be followed while writing a character letter:

• Start by explaining your relationship with the candidate.
• State how long you have known the candidate – it should be at least four years.
  
• Includes the candidate's full name and professional standing, including any professional registration, licensure, or membership that conveys this standing.
• A summary of the candidate's character.
• Close with a statement of recommendation.
