What is Labor Day in the United States?

Labor Day is a federal holiday in the United States and traditionally celebrated on the first Monday in September to honor and recognize the American labor movement and the works and contributions of laborers to the development and achievements of the United States. Most people get the day off work, so it's a three-day weekend filled with rest and relaxation. Americans celebrate it since it created by the labor movement, since the late 19th century. It became a public holiday in the year 1894.
