A script is a written work for a film, television show, or other moving media, that expresses the movement, actions, and dialogue of characters. Scripts, or screenplays, are the blueprint for the movie. A screenplay is written in a specific format to distinguish between characters, action lines, and dialogue.

How do you write a Script?

Script format is relatively simple as you will see in our Script example, but it’s one of those things that can seem a bit daunting until you’ve actually learned how to do it.

The basics of script formatting are as follows:

  • 12-point Courier font size;
  • The 1.5-inch margin on the left of the page;
  • The 1-inch margin on the right of the page;
  • 1 inch on of the top and bottom of the page;
  • Each page should have approximately 55 lines;
  • The dialogue block starts 2.5 inches from the left side of the page;
  • Character names must have uppercase letters and be positioned starting 3.7 inches from the left side of the page;
  • Page numbers are positioned in the top right corner with a 0.5-inch margin from the top of the page. The first page shall not be numbered, and each number is followed by a period.

After downloading this sample script and filling in the blanks, you can easily customize the style, typography, details, and appearance of your Script. If this isn't the right letter that you are looking for, then certainly take a look at the other letters that Bizzlibrary.com has to offer. We have many letters ranging from cover letters to business letters and thank you notes.
