We are looking for a qualified environmental specialist to join our dynamic team. Our company is compliant with the British Standard for occupational health and safety management systems. An environmental services technician maintains the overall cleanliness and sanitation of the healthcare facility in which they work. They do so by performing a range of cleaning tasks, from mopping and floor buffing to room sanitizing and waste disposal. Although they are generally not responsible for laundering linens, they are responsible for distributing linens and tracking the linens used per department. They are also responsible for refilling toilet paper and other paper products to rooms as needed. Environmental services technicians work under an environmental services director or supervisor.

In addition, to create the necessary remediation systems and ensure that job sites are set up as desired, they might have to perform light construction work.

Qualifications:

  • Environmental science programs, available at many community colleges, prepare students specifically for hands-on careers in the field through the study of topics like water resource management and sustainability.
  • A bachelor's degree in a scientific field may be helpful, especially for advancement, but isn't usually required for the position.
  • Besides education, environmental service technicians often need work experience.
