What are the steps to making an employee's write-up?
In simple steps, here's how to write up an employee:- Avoid doing it if you are angry.
- Make a note of the problem.
- Be sure to check your company's policies.
- It is recommended to include witness statements if they are relevant.
- Improve your performance by setting expectations.
- The news should be delivered in person (and a receipt should be provided)
- Make a copy for your records.
- Keep in touch.
How does a write-up serve its purpose?
The purpose of a write-up is to record any new or ongoing shortcomings in an employee's performance and/or conduct. In this letter, you wish to clearly explain the situation and what steps need to be taken to correct it. A copy of the write-up is kept in the personnel file of the employee.
