Similarly called Lunar New Year, Chinese New Year is an annual 15-day festival celebrated in China and Chinese communities around the world starting with the new moon, which within Western calendars usually occurs between January 21 and February 20. The festival lasts until the full moon of the following month.

  • Chinese calendar: 初一 Chūyī or choo-ee or 'first 1'
